Aizawl: The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Lalduhoma, has introduced two new digital dashboards, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Dashboard and the Mizoram State Project Monitoring Dashboard (MPLAN), both aimed at providing an “Eagle’s Eye View” of the state’s development projects.
The launch event at the Conference Hall of the Planning & Programme Implementation Department highlighted these tools as key steps toward enhancing transparency and accountability in Mizoram’s governance.
According to the Chief Minister, these dashboards are designed to bring a new level of oversight to the state’s developmental initiatives. “Our goal is to create a transparent and accountable governance model,” Lalduhoma emphasized. The dashboards will centralize project information, allowing officials to monitor project status in real-time, which is expected to improve decision-making and resource management.
The SDG Dashboard, developed in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and partially funded by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pension, aims to track sustainable development progress down to the village level. It will align local, district, and state-level data with broader SDG goals, which could foster a more data-driven approach to sustainable development planning. Citizens, too, will have limited access to reports, fostering public transparency and involvement.
Meanwhile, the MPLAN Dashboard, funded by NITI Aayog, is a comprehensive monitoring system for all state projects and schemes. Developed by Integrity Tech Solution, this Rs 69.99 lakh initiative is expected to make project management more efficient and standardized. The dashboard will allow departments to streamline project submissions, track their progress, and make adjustments based on real-time data—all of which is anticipated to improve accountability and ensure better alignment with development goals.
The dashboard’s integrated design will also enhance oversight through the Mizoram State Project Monitoring Committee, which includes representatives from political parties and NGOs. This inclusive monitoring approach is likely to encourage greater stakeholder engagement and a shared commitment to the state’s growth.
Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma, along with Vanlaldina Fanai, Commissioner of Planning, and Pu Lalmalsawma Pachuau, Secretary of Planning, were also present at the event. They underscored how these dashboards could become powerful tools in addressing some of Mizoram’s long-standing governance challenges by providing structured data and fostering a culture of accountability.
Whether these dashboards will fully deliver on their promises remains to be seen, but Mizoram’s commitment to adopting data-driven governance and real-time monitoring is a promising shift toward transparency and efficiency in its project management efforts. The “Eagle’s Eye” view aims to revolutionize how the state oversees development projects, setting a high standard for public accountability and sustainable growth.
