Aizawl: The Central Government has sanctioned Rs 5 crores to provide rice for displaced persons in Mizoram. This financial assistance, made official through a letter dated July 18 and publicly announced on July 23, aims to support approximately 45,000 individuals affected by natural calamities, social, and political disturbances in the state.
The memorandum, signed by Prem Parkash, Under Secretary, outlines the request made by the Government of Mizoram to provide rice for the displaced persons.
It stated, “The competent authority has directed to extend assistance to the Government of Mizoram by providing rice amounting to Rs 5 crores for the displaced persons free of cost.”
The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) praised Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma for his efforts in securing the funds and expressed gratitude to both the central government and the Chief Minister.
