Aizawl: In a harrowing aftermath of Cyclone Remal, hundreds of graves in Mizoram have been disrupted by landslides, with coffins sliding out in multiple localities. The devastating cyclone has caused severe landslides across several dozen places in the state, leaving communities grappling with the destruction.

The graveyards in the localities of Kanan, Kulikawn, Republic, and ITI have seen significant impact, with the ITI locality reporting over 150 graves affected. The exact number of disturbed graves in the other areas remains unclear as assessments are still underway.

Many volunteers have been seen carrying caskets to safety under the rain. It remains uncertain when a reburial will be possible.

In addition to the graveyard disturbances, the cyclone’s impact has been catastrophic. Volunteers from across Mizoram, showing remarkable resilience and solidarity, are braving the incessant rain to assist in rescue efforts and support those in need.

The community’s response highlights the spirit of unity in the face of this natural disaster.
