Aizawl: Mizoram reported 1,231 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday- 591 less than the previous day, taking the state’s tally to 1,96,420, a health department official said.
The death toll rose to 636 as one more person has succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours, the official said.
Aizawl district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 559, followed by Lunglei district (164) and Champhai district (91), he said.
The single-day positivity rate increased to 26.79 per cent from 25.38 per cent the previous day.
Mizoram now has 11,268 COVID-19 active cases, while 848 people have recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 1,84,516.
The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 93.93 per cent and the death rate is 0.32 per cent.
The northeastern state has so far tested more than 17.55 lakh samples for COVID-19 and out of this 4,591 samples were tested on Saturday.
According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalmuanawma Jongte, over 8 lakh people have been inoculated till Saturday and 6.32 lakh of them have received the full dose.
