Aizawl: Mizoram on Tuesday reported 520 new COVID-19 cases, the highest single-day spike since June 22, a health official said on Tuesday.
The fresh cases took Mizoram’s COVID-19 count to 21,854, of which 3,730 are active, he said.
The single-day positivity rate is 8.96 per cent as the 520 fresh cases were detected from 5,801 samples tested on Monday, he said.
The fresh COVID-19 cases were reported from various districts of Mizoram, with Aizawl reporting the highest at 353 cases, followed by Kolasib and Lunglei, both reported 76 and 50 cases, he said.
As many as 106 children were among the newly infected people.
Three patients have travel history, while the rest 517 were found to have locally contracted the infection.
Of the 520 patients, 225 have developed symptoms of COIVD-19.
As many as 18,026 people have recovered from the infection.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state has climbed to 98 as three more people have succumbed to the infection on Monday.
The state has tested 5,06,918 samples for Covid-19 till date.
According to state immunisation officer, Dr. Lalzawmi, over 5.4 people have been vaccinated till Monday.
