Aizawl: Mizoram reported 113 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 13,679, an official said on Monday.
The state also reported two more COVID-19 fatalities, pushing the death toll to 55, he said.
Two persons aged 30 and 42 years succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Sunday night and Monday morning, respectively, he said.
The daily positivity rate was 15.14 per cent as 113 out of 746 samples tested positive for COVID-19, he said.
According to the official, at least 12 persons per 1,000 population are infected with COVID-19 based on the population in 2011 Census.
Of the fresh 113 cases, 75 were reported from Aizawl, nine from Lunglei, six from Kolasib, four from Saitual, 17 from Lawngtlai and one each from Mamit and Khawzawl districts.
More than 30 children, including a two-month old baby, were among the newly-infected people, the official said.
Sixty-eight patients were diagnosed with COVID-19 during contact tracing. It is yet to be ascertained how the remaining 48 patients contracted the infection, he said.
Of the 113 patients, 58 have developed symptoms of COVID-19, he said.

Mizoram now has 3,279 active cases, while 10,345 people have recovered from the infection.
At least 194 people were discharged from various COVID-19 Care Centres on Sunday after they were declared fully “recovered”.
The recovery rate is 75.63 per cent and the death rate is 0.41 per cent.
