Shillong: In a chilling revelation, three individuals have been apprehended by the Meghalaya police for their alleged involvement in a heinous gang rape incident in Shillong. Among them, one is a juvenile, as confirmed by East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Rituraj Ravi.
The incident, which occurred last September, only came to light recently after the victim noticed a circulating video of the assault on social media.
According to the victim, who bravely shared her ordeal with local channel T7, the perpetrators allegedly spiked her drink during a visit to their place. Describing the events, she recounted how she was lured by one of the accused, Modify Dkhar, whom she had met through the online gaming platform PubG. Despite her initial reservations about associating with them, she agreed to join them for breakfast. However, what followed was a nightmare.
“They served me a drink, claiming it was all they had. Moments later, I felt dizzy and incapacitated,” she recounted. “Upon waking up, I confronted them, only to be met with denials. They insisted nothing untoward had happened.”
It wasn’t until she stumbled upon the viral video that she realized the horrifying truth. The victim, deeply shaken by the betrayal and violation of trust, promptly filed a police report, leading to the arrests of Modify Dkhar, Trustful Dkhar, and Emkilang Shyrmang— all residents of East Jaintia Hills District and students in Shillong.
This incident, the second of its kind reported in a month, has sent shockwaves across the state, prompting calls for stricter measures against such crimes.
In her interview, the victim implored the public to refrain from sharing the video, stressing the devastating impact it could have on her life.
