Shillong: Amid the surge of Omicron cases in India, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday informed that few restrictions will be reimposed in the state starting January 5.
Speaking with media persons after reviewing the COVID-19 situation in the state, CM Sangma said the government has decided to impose restrictions on gatherings.
According to the chief minister, it is important to impose restrictions now since there are no Omicron cases in the state.
Sangma said there will be restrictions on movement of private vehicles in Shillong city, adding that odd and even numbers will be made applicable in Shillong city for private vehicles.
Apart from the requirement of double vaccination certificate, those coming from outside the state will be required to produce 72-hour COVID-19 negative test certificate. Those who do not possess the Covid-19 negative report will be tested at the entry point.
The Chief Minister further informed that night curfew will be re-imposed from 10pm in Shillong city and in all the other districts. He said the respective Deputy Commissioners will come up with the necessary order in this connection.
