Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh strongly condemned the killing of six Naga villagers who were allegedly abducted by suspected armed militants from Leilon Vaiphei village in Kangpokpi district on May 13.
The condemnation came after the mortal remains of the six villagers were recovered in Kangpokpi district on Wednesday.
Expressing his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Chief Minister described the killings as a brutal and inhuman act.
“The Government of Manipur will not tolerate such violence and will not remain a mute spectator to these atrocities,” Singh said, adding that those responsible for the murders would be arrested and punished in accordance with the law.
The state government has already handed over the investigation into the abduction and killing of the six villagers to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The Chief Minister also condemned the killing of a farmer from Lansan Kuki village under Tamei Police Station in Tamenglong district. The victim was allegedly shot dead by suspected armed miscreants on Wednesday.
Singh extended his condolences to the bereaved family and assured that efforts would be made to bring those responsible to justice.
