Imphal: A self-styled finance secretary of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA), a Manipur-based insurgent group, was arrested in Assam’s Guwahati, officials said.
Based on intelligence inputs, a team from Assam’s Special Task Force (STF) launched a search operation in the Beltola area under Basistha Police Station on the evening of September 13.
During the operation, the team apprehended the UKNA cadre, identified as LS Yosef Chongloi (34) from Churachandpur district in Manipur.

According to Manipur police officials, Chongloi was involved in multiple sabotage activities, including a recent bomb blast that destroyed the Sapermaina bridge on NH-2 and an armed attack on an IOCL convoy in Tamenglong district.
A case has been registered against him under sections 147, 148, 149, and 150 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 16, 17, 18, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Authorities confirmed that an investigation is underway.
Manipur police are coordinating with Assam police on the matter for further investigation.
