Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh emphasised the collective responsibility of building a safe and secure society for present and future generations, where indigenous people can live without fear of demographic imbalance, economic challenges, or threats to their identity.
He made these remarks during the inaugural function of a two-day Mega Job Fair (Rozgar Mela) at Liberal College, Luwangsangbam, Imphal East, on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, CM Biren Singh expressed his appreciation for the efforts of principals, teachers, and students across the state’s colleges in singing the State song and National anthem during morning assemblies. He highlighted that such activities foster a sense of belonging, discipline, and nationalism among students.
The Chief Minister emphasised that development cannot be achieved without discipline in society. He pointed out that youth play a pivotal role in bringing about positive change and urged them to develop discipline and respect for parents, elders, and teachers.
CM Biren Singh also discussed the state government’s efforts to provide skill development training programs for inmates residing in various relief camps. He noted that the products made by these individuals are purchased by the government, value-added, and then exported outside the state. He expressed optimism that harnessing Manipur’s potential and resources would lead to rapid development.
Additionally, the Chief Minister mentioned that food processing training programs are being provided to around 40,000 women in the hill areas under TRIFED. The value-added products, including fruit items, are now available at various organic outlets in major cities across the country.
CM Biren Singh also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the Assam Government for introducing an amendment bill that allows Manipuri to be recognised as an Associate Official Language in four districts of Assam, including Cachar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Hojai.

During the event, Minister for Information and Public Relations Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh emphasized the government’s focus on skilling the youth of Manipur through various training programs. He stated that with appropriate skill training, the youth of the state, who possess immense potential, could excel in any field.
Education Minister Th Basantakumar Singh also spoke at the event, stressing the importance of skill development to bridge the gap between different socio-economic backgrounds. He mentioned that vocational training has already been introduced in around 40 Higher Secondary Schools in the state and that skill-based courses have also been started in government colleges under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan.
