Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Saturday chaired a cabinet meeting and deliberated on agendas to be tabled in the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly which is scheduled to be held from 28th February till 5th March.
“Chaired a meeting at the cabinet hall of my secretariat today. Deliberated on agendas tabled by the departments and matters concerning the people of the state,” said CM Biren on Facebook.
Meanwhile, briefing the media persons after the cabinet meeting, Information and Public Relations Minister Dr Sapam Ranajn Singh said that the agendas of the Cabinet that were discussed were related to the upcoming Assembly Session.
Minister Sapam Ranjan said that the state cabinet has decided to table the Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Six Amendment Bill), 2024.
The cabinet also decided to lay the Manipur Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (Fifth Amendment Bill), 2024. Reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and Budget 2024-Revised Estimates 2023-24 and Budget Estimates 2024-25 (Vote on Account) will also be laid in the House, he added.
He informed that the cabinet agreed to propose implementation of the recommendation of the second National Judicial Pay Commission for payment of allowances to the Manipur judicial service w.e.f. 01.01.2016, in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order. The cabinet also decided to place the Manipur Labour Laws (Exemption from Renewal of Registration and Licence by establishment) Manipur, Bill 2024 in the Manipur Legislative Assembly for enactment as an Act.
As an unlisted agenda, the Minister further mentioned that the post-creation of one Professor and another Associate Professor in the College of Nursing, Manipur was agreed by the cabinet to fulfill the norms of the Indian Nursing Council. Three posts of junior grade Translator and Registrar, Translation Wing will be created for the High Court of Manipur. This wing will translate the rulings and judgments of the top court and high court from English to Manipuri in Meitei Script and Roman alphabet script, he said.
Opening a Super Speciality Branch in Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care in JNIMS was also approved to provide specialised healthcare in every department which is the priority of the state government, said the minister.

As per the rule and regulations of the country where every state is required to have an Automated Testing Center, the cabinet gave the approval for direct purchase of 3.77 acres of land for the opening of a station at Telou Tera Makhong in Imphal East district, added the minister.
