Manipur Governor visits COVID-19 vaccination Center at JNIMS 

Imphal: Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Wednesday visited the COVID-19 Vaccination Centre at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Porompat.

The Governor inspected the COVID-19 Vaccination Centre, operating since January 16, 2021, at JNIMS auditorium.

He also distributed COVID-19 vaccination certificates, pens and badges to those fully jabbed with second vaccination doses and immunity doses belonging to different age groups and professions.

Governor Ganesan also interacted with doctors, nurses, frontline workers and other related officials of JNIMS and Health Department, Manipur. He also discussed the status of the vaccination drive in the state with the COVID-19 Vaccination team of JNIMS. 

Additional Chief Secretary Health & Family Welfare Vumlunmang Vualnam, JNIMS Director Prof Laishram Deben Singh, doctors and other officials were present during the visit.

Some days back, Governor Ganesan had met several Church leaders and Imams and sought their help to ramp up vaccination ahead the state polls.

Meanwhile, while reviewing the poll preparedness in Manipur, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has also expressed concern over the low coverage of vaccination, especially in the hill districts, despite a surge in COVID-19 cases.

On Tuesday, at least 327 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 and four deaths, taking the total confirmed cases to 1,33,583 and death toll is 2,050 in the state.

The recovery rate in Manipur stands at 95.50%.
