Manipur: Jiribam Cricket Tournament concludes with thrilling final match

The Jiribam Cricket Tournament, organised by Dett-156 Battalion, CRPF, under the aegis of the Sports Authority of India as part of the Khelo India initiative, concluded on Wednesday at Bidyanagar Sports Complex in Jiribam. The final match was played between Sonapur Cricket Team and Sunrise Club Kadamtala, Jiribam.

The closing ceremony was graced by Vishnu Gautam, DIG, CRPF, as the chief guest, along with Krishna Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Jiribam, and other distinguished dignitaries. The ceremony marked the culmination of a successful tournament that aimed to promote peace and brotherhood through sports among local youth.

The tournament, held from October 25 to November 5, 2025, saw the participation of 12 cricket teams. Sonapur Cricket Team emerged as the champion, defeating SRCK by 57 runs. The champion team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 30,000, a trophy, and medals, while the runner-up team received a cash prize of Rs 20,000, a trophy, medals, and a certificate.

Altaf Hussain of the Sonapur team was awarded Man of the Series, while Shahar Alam of the same team was named Man of the Match. The event was hailed as a huge success, promoting sportsmanship and unity among the local youth in the region.
