Paracyclist Rakesh Banik from Kaliabor, Assam, has completed a 7,000-kilometre transcontinental cycling journey from Russia to Assam, marking a rare feat of endurance and determination.
Banik, who lost his right leg in an accident, undertook the journey across multiple countries, inspiring many with his perseverance and commitment to the sport.
Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora shared details of the achievement on Saturday, describing it as an extraordinary accomplishment. He wrote on X that Banik had “defied all odds” to complete the expedition, earning a place “in the record books and in the hearts of millions.”
Bora met Banik at his office in Janata Bhawan and congratulated him for the achievement, extending best wishes for his future endeavours. Banik’s journey, marked by both physical and logistical challenges, has drawn admiration across the country for its message of resilience and determination.
