E-commerce company Amazon has announced that it has doubled its same-day and next-day product deliveries in Assam, while also recording an increase in demand for premium categories such as fashion, beauty, and jewellery.

According to the company, more than 10,000 sellers from Assam are currently using Amazon to reach customers across India.

“Amazon India is gearing up to meet rising customer demand in Assam, especially Guwahati, bringing customers unmatched value, speed and selection,” said Pallavi Singh, senior manager, Amazon Prime India.

Singh noted that this festive season, premium categories are gaining traction among customers in Guwahati. Watches and luxury beauty products are seeing 30 per cent year-on-year growth, while jewellery demand in Assam has grown by 20 per cent. Traditional Assamese designs continue to be a popular choice.

“In the run-up to Durga Puja, searches for complete beauty looks spike on Amazon, while contemporary jewellery and luxury beauty see higher traction during the wedding season,” she added.

Other product categories showing high demand include smartphones, consumer electronics, home and kitchen, groceries, and everyday essentials.

The company said its presence in Assam includes one fulfilment centre, one sortation centre, more than 200 ‘I Have Space’ partner stores, and over 50 delivery stations. These investments, it added, have enabled faster delivery and generated hundreds of local jobs.

Amazon’s annual ‘Great Indian Festival’ sale will begin on 23 September. The company said Prime members will receive additional offers and early access 24 hours before the sale opens to all customers.
