School leaders meet in Guwahati to discuss digital transformation in education

More than 40 schools from across the Northeast were represented at the second edition of School Excellence – Leadership for the Digital Age, held on 30 August in Guwahati. The workshop, organised by ADIG in collaboration with Teachmint, brought together 63 principals and decision-makers to discuss challenges and opportunities in education.

The full-day event focused on practical activities and reflection rather than lectures. Sessions encouraged participants to revisit their leadership styles, explore case studies on digital adoption, teacher attrition, parental expectations and school reputation, and develop strategies suited to 21st-century schooling.

Among the activities was a visioning workshop where principals outlined plans for their schools across areas such as digital readiness, inclusivity, mental health, and sustainability. Problem-solving simulations were also conducted, aimed at reframing everyday challenges into actionable strategies.

Sandeep Das, Director of ADIG, said the aim was to help educators move from policy to practice.

He said today was about moving from policy to practice, and educators left not just with inspiration but with clear roadmaps and tools to balance NEP 2020 mandates with the real needs of Gen Z and Gen Alpha students. He added that too often education leaders operate in silos, limiting opportunities for collaboration and shared growth, and events like this provide a platform for leaders to connect, exchange ideas, and gain insights into emerging trends while identifying opportunities for future growth.

Organisers said the workshop highlighted how the collective decisions of school leaders directly impact thousands of students across the region. The discussions, they said, were aimed at equipping schools to address digital change while strengthening collaboration and reflection in leadership.

ADIG, based in Guwahati, works in digital infrastructure to support campuses in Northeast India. Teachmint is a classroom technology company with a presence in over 50 countries.
