Ghar, a Hindi feature film written, directed, shot and produced by Kangkan Bora, is set to premiere at the Jagran Film Festival 2025. The screening will take place on 4 September at 6:30 pm at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi.
Kangkan Bora, who has worked in the film and digital content industry for over a decade, is the second Assamese filmmaker to feature at the festival and the first Assamese male director to be selected in the Indian Panorama section for an Indian feature film.
Bora has been associated with projects such as Scam 1992, Undekhi, Kabir Singh, Shamshera, Salt City and Criminal Justice 2. He also worked as Second Assistant Cameraman on Sajni Shinde Ka Viral Video and has contributed to several short films.
Ghar features Varun Singh Rajput as Sandeep and Akaksha Yadav as Sweety in lead roles, with performances from Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Uttam Halder and Kumud Soney. The music and background score have been composed by Brince Bora of Jorhat, sound mixing is by Hengul Medhi of Guwahati, and editing is by Vikash Toshniwal of Jorhat.
Set in rural India, the film tells the story of Sandeep and his wife Sweety, a poor couple whose ancestral home shields them from despair. Sandeep reconnects with his childhood friend Kanhaiyan, a real estate dealer from Mumbai, who convinces him to sell his ancestral land with promises of a better life. On moving to the city, the couple is left stranded after Kanhaiyan disappears. Struggling to survive, they eventually find shelter under a flyover with the help of a stranger named Gauri.
The film explores themes of trust, betrayal, migration and survival, questioning what truly defines a home.
