In a major breakthrough in its ongoing ‘War Against Drugs’, the Nagaland Police has made significant seizures and arrests over the past week, dismantling multiple interstate drug trafficking chains and recovering contraband worth more than ₹15 crore.

According to a statement released by the Nagaland Police today, in the first major catch on June 12, officials from the Narcotic Police Station (PHQ) intercepted a Hyundai i20 and seized six packets of suspected brown sugar weighing approximately 5.950 kilograms. The concealed contraband, valued at ₹6 crore, was found hidden in a fabricated compartment beneath the driver and co-passenger seats.

Two individuals, identified as Durg Singh and Matu Singh—both from Rajasthan—were arrested. Preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment had originated from Manipur and was intended for delivery to a person named Bharat in Guwahati, Assam.

The case has been registered as Narcotic PS Case No. 06/2025.

In a separate operation on June 14, the Narcotic PS team apprehended two individuals—Visani and Th. Pavikho of Manipur—and recovered 70 soap cases containing suspected heroin (locally known as “Shan Flower”), weighing approximately 739 grams.

The market value of the seized substance is estimated at ₹5.17 crore. Investigators have traced the source of the supply to a Manipur-based person known by aliases Sani, Kavisii, or Kavi. The case is under Narcotic PS Case No. 07/2025.

In the third incident reported on June 17, personnel from the Kohima Highway Patrol intercepted a suspected vehicle, a Maruti Baleno, and recovered 50 soap cases of suspected heroin, weighing approximately 549 grams.
