Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Kirti Vardhan Singh, made a statement on the occasion of the inauguration of the ASSOCHAM Environment and Carbon Conference on August 29 in New Delhi.
The minister said that the theme of the conference is ‘Fostering a collaborative ecosystem for achieving net zero by 2070’. He said that climate change is a major problem and its effects are not defined by political or national borders.
He said that it is a boundary-less phenomenon that the world is facing and requires collaborative efforts. He reiterated that steps have been taken for building climate resilience and achieving its targets.
As we know that the climate issue is not state-specific, there are many things which depend on happenings in the world. We need to adopt Mission Life (Lifestyle for Environment) to become a part of sustainable development, he further added.
He said that when it comes to achieving net-zero, fighting climate change and the future of future generations, research and development has to be more focused on finding the right technology for greener industries and low carbon emissions.
