At the ongoing Paris Paralympics 2024, three Chandigarh University students are representing India. The students, Aruna Tanwar, Palak Kohli, and Yash Kumar, have won significant medals in the national and international competitions to secure their berth in the Indian contingent of 84 athletes.
The 3 students have shown their prowess in different sporting disciplines like taekwondo, badminton, and kayaking. Aruna Tanwar, a student of taekwondo, won the gold medal at the Asian Para Taekwondo Qualifiers Championship held in Tai’an, China, in March 2024. She secured her berth for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and will be representing India for the second time. Palak Kohli, a student of badminton, won the bronze medal at the World Para Badminton Championship at Pattaya, in February 2024, and is all set to showcase her sporting prowess at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Yash Kumar, a student of para kayaking, won the gold medal and silver medal at the Asian Para Kayaking Championship held in Japan, in April 2024, securing a berth in the Indian contingent for the Paralympic Games in Paris. He will represent India for the first time at the Paralympic Games.
The winning performances of the three students add to the reputation of Chandigarh University as a leading provider of sports education.
