Mizoram on Sunday reported 181 COVID-19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 8,680, an official said. The state also reported one more COVID-19 fatality on Saturday night as a 24-year-old man has succumbed to the infection at Zoram Medical College (ZMC), which took the death toll to 24, he said.
Sixty-six cases were confirmed at ZMC’s RT-PCR laboratory, while 11 cases were confirmed at TrueNat facilities and 104 were detected through Rapid Antigen Test, he said.
Aizawl district reported the highest cases at 103, followed by Lunglei district, which reported 53 cases.
The remaining cases were reported from Champhai, Kolasib, Khawzawl, Serchhip and Siaha districts.
Two Border Security Force (BSF) jawan and one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were among the newly infected people, he said.
Besides, more than 35 children, including a 2-month old baby, have also tested positive for COVID-19.
15 patients have travel history, while the rest were found to have locally contracted the virus, the official said. 78 patients have developed symptoms of COVID-19 and the rest 103 are asymptomatic, he added.
Mizoram now has 2,158 active COVID-19 cases, while 6,498 people have recovered from the infection. The state has conducted 3,46,042 samples test to date.
According to state immunization officer Dr Lalzawmi, as many as 2,32,959 people have been administered the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine till Saturday and 51,901 of them have received both doses.
