WWF-India’s Educators’ Conclave brought together 76 educators from 38 schools across Assam and Meghalaya at the Mayflower Hotel in Guwahati. The event served as a collaborative platform for educators to explore strategies for cultivating environmental stewardship and climate literacy among students, with an overarching goal of transforming schools into sustainability hubs.
Centred around the theme “Raising Generation 30”, the conclave focused on equipping educators with innovative approaches to integrate sustainable practices within their institutions. Participants engaged in meaningful discussions, workshops, and showcases, all aimed at empowering the next generation to address pressing environmental challenges.
A key highlight of the event was a panel discussion featuring prominent education leaders. Fr. Alex Mathew, Principal of Don Bosco School; Dr. Hemashree Deka, Head of Environmental Science at Assam Valley School; Sakina Rashid Hazarika, Director of Ascent Academy Senior Secondary School; and Monti Gogoi, Principal of Axel Public School, shared their insights on reimagining education to prioritise environmental awareness and action. Moderated by WWF-India representatives Archita Baruah Bhattacharyya and Shreya Bhat, the conversation illuminated innovative ideas and success stories from their respective schools.
In a special session, “Schools as Hubs for Biodiversity Learning,” Dr. Oinam Sunanda Devi, Scientific Officer and Activity Director at the Assam State Biodiversity Board, urged educators to transform school campuses into ecosystems for biodiversity. She emphasised the importance of involving students in citizen science and hands-on biodiversity projects to deepen their connection with nature.
The event also featured an interactive Climate Education workshop led by WWF-India experts. Educators explored tools and strategies to teach climate change and sustainability in dynamic, impactful ways. These sessions sparked enthusiasm and encouraged participants to implement creative solutions in their classrooms.

WWF-India’s State Coordinator, Archita Baruah Bhattacharyya, lauded the educators for their commitment to fostering environmental leadership. She urged them to nurture young minds as change-makers, capable of shaping a harmonious relationship between humans and nature.
The conclave concluded with a showcase of innovative sustainability projects by six schools. Among these, Ruchi Rai of Sanskriti The Gurukul presented an inventive project on creating handmade paper and an eco-friendly all-purpose cleaner made from bubbles. Other notable projects came from Maharishi Vidya Mandir 3, Maria’s Public School, Suderashan Public School, DPS Khanapara, and Star Public School in Meghalaya, demonstrating creative solutions to environmental challenges.
