Pasighat: In a swift operation, the East Siang police on Sunday apprehended two accused persons in the Guwahati murder case, identified as Sanjay Urang and Babul Ghosh, within hours of receiving information from their Assam counterparts.
Urang, the prime accused in the case registered under Khetri Police Station Case No. 36/2024, had been absconding after allegedly murdering his wife in Guwahati.
Police said telephonic information was received on March 17 from Khetri police station officer-in-charge inspector Manjit Tarang stating that Urang, a resident of Sakura village in Assam’s Kamrup Metro district was suspected to be hiding in and around the Pasighat area.
Following the tip-off, Pasighat police station officer-in-charge inspector Ige Lollen along with sub-inspector K Tangha, head constable Tai Kampong, constables P Chaejong and O Modi, conducted a search operation under the supervision of East Siang SP Sachin Kumar Singhal.
The team tracked down and apprehended the prime accused from a construction site in Mebo, where he was staying with Babul Ghosh, his co-accused friend from Assam.
