Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first-ever Bodoland Mohotsov in New Delhi on November 15th at 6:30 PM, marking a significant celebration of Bodo culture and heritage.
The two-day event, taking place at the SAI Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, will showcase the rich language, literature, and traditions of the Bodo people.
The Mohotsov aims to foster unity among the Bodo community, both within Bodoland and across regions like Assam, West Bengal, Nepal, and other northeastern border areas.
The 1st Bodoland Mohotsov, a two-day mega event organized on November 15th and 16th, will focus on language, literature, and culture to sustain peace and build a Vibrant Bodo Society. The theme, “Peace and Harmony for Prosperous Bharat,” will highlight the rich culture, language, and education of the Bodo community alongside other communities from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The Mohotsov aims to capitalize on Bodoland’s cultural and linguistic heritage, ecological biodiversity, and tourism potential.
Themed “Peace and Harmony for Prosperous Bharat,” the Mohotsov holds special significance as it commemorates the progress made since the signing of the Bodo Peace Accord in 2020, an agreement credited with ending decades of conflict in the region and serving as a catalyst for other peace settlements. A key highlight of the Mohotsov will be a session dedicated to “The rich Bodo Culture, tradition and Literature Contributing towards Indian Heritage and Traditions.”
This session will delve into the diverse cultural expressions of the Bodo people. Additionally, a panel discussion will focus on the challenges and opportunities of using mother tongue instruction within the framework of the National Education Policy 2020. A thematic discussion on “Indigenous cultural meet & discussion on building ‘Vibrant Bodoland’ Region through culture & tourism” will promote tourism and culture in the Bodoland region.
The event is expected to draw over 5,000 attendees, including cultural enthusiasts, artists, and representatives from Bodoland, Assam, West Bengal, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and neighboring Nepal and Bhutan.
