Dr. Ashok Kumar Pansari, Chancellor of The Assam Royal Global University (RGU), was recently awarded the “Outstanding Educator of the Year 2024” under the Chanakya National Award Series, in recognition of his contributions to the field of education. The award was presented during the 18th Global Communications Conclave held in Mangalore.
The award was accepted on behalf of Dr Pansari by RGU Vice Chancellor, Professor Y.S.R. Murthy, who received it from Union Minister of State for Power and New and Renewable Energy Sources, Shripad Yesso Naik. Professor Murthy expressed that the award acknowledges Dr Pansari’s work in establishing several educational institutions, including DPS Guwahati in 2003, the Royal Group of Institutions in 2009, the Royal Global School in 2012, and The Assam Royal Global University in 2017. These institutions have provided educational opportunities in the North Eastern Region, an area that has seen significant student migration in pursuit of higher education across the country.
According to Professor Murthy, RGU has seen enrolment growth under Dr. Pansari’s tenure, with students from kindergarten through Ph.D. level now numbering over 12,000. RGU has gained recognition for offering programmes across diverse disciplines with a focus on research and critical thinking.

This year’s Global Communications Conclave, themed “Reconnect,” included panel discussions on topics ranging from government PR strategies and public engagement to the impact of the gig economy on communications. Speakers included communication experts and thought leaders from India, Europe, and the Gulf, covering subjects such as global storytelling and digital media trends. Additionally, PRCI organised its first Vice Chancellors’ Round Table, which saw participation from ten university leaders, including RGU’s Professor Murthy, who discussed “The Future of Higher Education—Reconnecting with Innovation.”
The Chanakya National Award Series, presented by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI), recognises significant contributions across various fields. Founded in 2004, PRCI has expanded to include 59 chapters in India and eight international chapters under the World Communications Council.
