Chhaygaon: Kamrup Police apprehended an inter-state thief, Shah Rukh Khan, from Guwahati on Friday. The operation was led by Additional SP Kalyan Pathak and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chhaygaon Police Station, Bhaskar Mall Patowary.

OC Patowary revealed that they had received specific information regarding an inter-state stolen Remote Radio Unit (RRU) receiver. The suspect, Shah Rukh Khan from Uttar Pradesh, was reportedly hiding in Dhirenpara, Guwahati.

Based on this intelligence, SP Kamrup, Ranjan Bhuyan, ordered a raid at a rented house in Dhirenpara Milonpur. The police successfully apprehended Khan and recovered seven RRUs from his residence. Following his confession, an additional five RRUs were recovered from another flat. The seized units are valued between Rs 45-60 lakhs.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the stolen RRUs were being sold in Delhi markets and then smuggled to Bangladesh and Africa. A suo motu case has been registered at Chhaygaon Police Station under Case No. 289/24, under relevant sections.

The Remote Radio Unit (RRU), also known as a Remote Radio Head (RRH), is a vital transceiver used in wireless base stations and towers, enabling communication between wireless devices and networks.
