The election mascots of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in Kamrup Metropolitan District were unveiled on March 9. The two ‘hargila’ birds named Kodomi and Tutula are a pair of birds that represent the endangered Greater Adjutant Stork.
The launch of the election mascots took place on the same day as the launch of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. A notable woman leader and activist, Purnima Devi Barman, was also present on the occasion. Barman is known for her work in environmental preservation, especially for the endangered Greater Adjutant Stork.
Barman, along with Kamrup Metro District Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan and renowned actor Diganta Hazarika, jointly addressed the voters and encouraged them to cast their votes responsibly. Sattawan also praised Barman and the ‘hargila army’ for their contributions to wildlife preservation.
