Guwahati: A woman was killed after being sexually assaulted by two persons in Assam’s Darrang district, an official has said. The deceased was a day-wage labourer working in a local brick kiln in Naodinga village.

According to reports, the woman went missing on March 07 last. An official complaint was lodged shortly after the lady was nowhere to be found. Police took prompt action, launching a search for her immediately. Her mortal remains were recovered from the smoke channel of the brick kiln where she used to work within 24 hours of her going missing.

Two persons were arrested in connection with the case and the mortal remains were sent for post-mortem. Prima facie evidence suggests that she was raped before being brutally murdered. However, police are waiting for the autopsy report to come.

The deceased hails from Kokrajhar district. She relocated to Naodinga village to work at the brick kiln alongside her husband.
