Guwahati : A horrific incident unfolded in Assam’s Kokrajhar district where unidentified assailants killed a woman on suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
The incident took place at Mohkuma in Gossaigaon. The killers slit her throat open late on Tuesday night leading to her death. She was found lying in a pool of blood.
The victim, identified as Maino Hadsa, was asleep when the killers entered her house.
People came to know about the gruesome killing only after her son raised the alarm in the morning. Her son, reportedly, attempted to wake her up but received no response. Upon opening the door, he discovered his mother’s blood-soaked body. Shocked by the sight, he immediately alerted the villagers.

Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene and recovered the body. It was subsequently sent to Kokrajhar for a postmortem examination. Some villagers suspect that the woman was targeted due to suspicions of witchcraft.
Meanwhile, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter to ascertain the motive behind the brutal killing.
