Guwahati: On Monday, Axel Public School orchestrated a Food Fest Fundraiser to champion the cause of Wildlife and Environmental Conservation. The event, spearheaded by students from classes 6 to 11, not only aimed to tantalise taste buds with a diverse array of delectable dishes but also sought to generate funds for planting trees in public spaces across Guwahati.
Following a successful campaign dedicated to saving wetlands, Axel Public School aimed to channel its efforts into contributing to environmental awareness through this food fest.
Students took charge of the initiative, setting up a total of 26 food stalls that featured an assortment of culinary delights. The funds generated from the event, totaling ₹85,000, will be directed towards planting trees in public areas within Guwahati.
In their ongoing efforts, students at Axel Public School have engaged in educational workshops, field trips, and community outreach programs to elevate awareness about the critical importance of wetlands and the imperative need for their preservation. Adhiraj Dutta, an eighth-grade student and Axel Green Warrior, passionately expressed, “We children are the future, and having healthy forests and wetlands is a blessing. We urge the public and our governments to leave us a healthy planet.”

Prior to the Food Fest, Axel’s Green Warriors actively participated in a cleanliness drive along the banks of Deepor Beel as part of the World Wetlands Day 2024 campaign. The students, numbering 1200 in total, pledged to volunteer as ‘Wetland-Mitra,’ dedicated to preserving the health of wetlands.
