Guwahati: A north-eastern young author has recently been included in the list of iconic Indian authors of one of the leading international magazines.

Aesthetics International, a well-known magazine, declared the list of India’s iconic authors recently, where the name of northeast novelist Neelim Akash Kashyap from Assam’s Nalbari district has also been included. 

Neelim Akash Kashyap made his debut in greater Indian English Literature through the novel Fifth Hand Wife, published in 2021.

Apart from the Nalbari author, the list features names of some bestselling and popular authors of the country including Rohit Dawesar, Neil D. Silva, Anirban Bhattacharya, Abhirup Dhar, Koral Dasgupta, Chirasree Bose, Smita Agarwal, Saurabh Mukherjea, Tanushree Podder, Nidhi Upadhyay, Patricia DSouza, Sandhya Ranganathan, Deepti Menon, Manjiri Prabhu, Kevin Missal, Vish Dhamijha, Rahul Saini, Sandeep Sharma, Akash Verma etc. 

According to Tanmay Sharma, founder of the Aesthetics International, published from Singapore and New Delhi, the magazine will feature the authors in India’s iconic author special issue.  

Neelim Akash Kashyap has been writing novels in Assamese literature for half a decade. He has penned several novels in Assamese literature, including Xonor Kharu-Kolijar Chaa, Laaz, Jonakor Pokhi Oore, etc.  

In 2021, he made his debut in greater Indian English literature. RedGrew, a leading traditional publisher of India, recently published his debut English novel Fifth Hand Wife

The novel is based on an unbelievable practice of bride buying in the country. The practice of buying brides is prevalent in states like Haryana. Brides bought for money are locally called “molki”
