Guwahati: Assam’s Rahul Das, who had made headlines last week for his exceptional NEET score and having bagged a seat at AIIMS in Delhi, was allegedly fibbing.
The story that drew the attention of the Assam Chief Minister turned out to be false. The 24-year-old, as per the Assam National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) NEET-UG 2021 merit list, secured 39.4325356 percentile and 9,29,881 rank.
Das, in an interview with EastMojo earlier this week, had claimed to have scored 464 marks, adding that he had decided to apply for all-India counselling. He also claimed to have gotten admission at AIIMS, New Delhi, when in reality, his scorecard reflected 106 out of 720 marks in the exam.

Meanwhile, Das took to Facebook after the controversy over his marksheet surfaced online and has reportedly left his home in Bajali, allegedly after his family faced bullying and harassment in the neighbourhood over the last two days.
Rahul Das’s Facebook clarification, written in Assamese, blames one Darpan Oleman Kalita for being the reason behind this controversy and accusations of manipulation about his NEET score and many facts about his personal life.
“When I applied for NEET, I gave my preference as All-India quota since I didn’t known which college I will get a seat in. Hence, my name is not in the state list… I did not appear for state counselling and only appeared for All India counselling. My marksheet and other documents have been submitted as required and my marksheet is my personal asset and I have the right to not share it with anyone,” Das wrote in a rough translation of his Facebook post.
Das has also claimed to have received over 300 calls demanding his marksheet and while some did it to tease him, he wrote, others threatened him directly. ‘I will burn you on the roads of Patarkuchi,’ one person said to him, Das has claimed in the post.
