Guwahati: Assam on Thursday reported a slight dip after three days of continuous spike in number of COVID-19 cases with 7,929 people testing positive for the disease according to a state health bulletin.
With this increase, the tally in the northeastern state climbed to 6,78,057 with the detection of fresh cases and twelve more fatalities in the state pushed the toll to 6,260, according to official data.
Kamrup Metropolitan, of which Guwahati city is a part, logged 1,716 new cases, followed by 486 new cases in Dibrugarh, 424 in Kamrup Rural, and 422 in Cachar being the districts with the highest case load of COVID-19.
The active caseload of COVID-19 patients in Assam stands at 41,118 and Kamrup Metro has seen 12,911 COVID-19 positive cases over the last ten days between January 11 to January 20, 2022.
The positivity rate stands at 12.92 per cent. As many as 61,359 sample tests were conducted during the day.
The vaccination data released by National Health Mission Assam states that 2,30,04,799 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 1,73,66,020 have received the second dose with at least 90,459 precaution doses of vaccine administered to the public.
Of these numbers, 13,537 vaccines have been administered to children between ages 15-17.
