Guwahati: Assam government will begin administering the third COVID-19 vaccine booster dose from January 10.

The health department said the government would provide a “precautionary” third dose to all senior citizens with co-morbidities, and frontline workers. 

“Senior persons with co-morbidity & who have completed 9 months after their 2nd dosage, will get 3rd dose of immunisation from Jan 10 onwards,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

According to the Union Health Ministry, more than 152.52 crore (1,52,52,23,275) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and direct state procurement category.

Also, more than 19.84 Cr (19,84,31,861) balance and unutilised COVID vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs.
