Guwahati: A young girl from Guwahati lodged a complaint with Geetanagar Police Station alleging that a man threatened to kill her if she did not accept his marriage proposal.
The incident first occurred on Monday and again on Tuesday, October 5, after which the girl lodged the complaint.
The man, identified as 28-year-old Himadri Bhuyan, allegedly tried to assault her when she was with her friend outside Guwahati Central Mall in Guwahati’s Zoo Road locality, earlier that day.
“The accused called her repeatedly and threatened to kill her if she didn’t meet him. The girl used to have an affair with this boy and he even attacked her in front of the mall. He has been arrested,” Rajib Bora, Sub-Inspector, Geetanagar Police Station told EastMojo.
The cops apprehended the accused the same day the complaint was filed and also recovered a sharp weapon from his possession, which he threatened to kill the girl with.
A case has been registered against the accused and he was produced in court on Wednesday and is back in police remand for two more days, Geetanagar Police Station officials said.
