Itanagar: Arunachalee mountaineer Kabak Yano has entered the annals of history as the fifth Arunachalee woman to conquer the summit of Mount Everest.
Hailing from Kamle district, Yano achieved this remarkable feat on Tuesday morning at approximately 11:50 am, marking a significant milestone in her mountaineering journey.
Currently pursuing her studies at Rashtriya Raksha University’s Pasighat campus, Yano has completed the Basic Mountaineering Course from the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) in Darjeeling, as well as the advanced mountaineering course and the search & rescue course from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) in Dirang, West Kameng.
Yano joined a six-member expedition team, with the other five members from Nepal, to conquer the world’s highest mountain peak, standing tall at 8848.86 meters.
Her expedition from Arunachal Pradesh was flagged off from Naharlagun on March 22.

In addition to her mountaineering pursuits, Yano is also actively involved in soccer and cricket. She is a member of the Arunachal Pradesh state women’s cricket team.
Before her Everest triumph, she successfully scaled Mt UT Kangri, which stands at an altitude of 6,080 meters and came close to conquering Mt Nun, which stands at an elevation of 7,135 meters.
Both the mountains are located in Ladakh.
