Itanagar: In a display of outrage, hundreds of people blocked the road in the Dirak Gate area of Arunachal Pradesh’s Namsai district on Thursday to protest the alleged death of a laborer due to severe beating.
As per a report by the PTI, Namsai Superintendent of Police, Sange Thinley, said that the victim, 60-year-old Sab Taye, was reportedly subjected to a severe beating by three fellow workers on Monday.
All four individuals were employed at the same construction site. Taye, a resident of New Silatoo village in the district, succumbed to his injuries.
A case was promptly registered, and the three accused labourers were arrested. During the interrogation process, the accused claimed that Taye stole a drilling machine and other items from the construction site.

On Thursday morning, a diverse group of hundreds, staged a dharna and initiated a road blockade in protest against the alleged killing. Their primary demands included the arrest of the contractor who had engaged the laborers for the construction work.
Later in the day, the road blockade was lifted, and the situation was under control despite the tension.
