Ukhrul: Amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Manipur’s Ukhrul district, chaos ensued as armed miscreants, suspected to be cadres of the NSCN (IM), obstructed voters from entering polling centers. The disturbing incident unfolded at the 44/50 K.K. Leishi Phanit Junior High School, designated as an all-woman polling station. According to sources, the cadres seized control of the booth and proceeded to cast votes on behalf of the public. Subsequently, angered locals reacted by destroying the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in protest.

Similar instances of disruptions were reported from three other polling booths in Ukhrul district headquarters, namely 44/36 Ukhrul Model High School, 44/41 Ukhrul D1 Greenland Primary School, and 44/47 VPH Primary School.

A circulating video on social media captured miscreants, purportedly affiliated with NSCN (IM), summoning polling agents and confiscating EVMs. The unsettling incident occurred at the polling booth in VPH Primary School within the Viewland East I area.
