The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has recently given the extension of the submission date for the first-ever 'Doc Film Bazaar', which is to be held alongside the 18th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF). The new extension date is April 10, 2024, allowing filmmakers more time to submit their projects.

The 'Doc Film Bazaar' is a platform designed to promote and support the growth of documentary, short films, and animation content by showcasing the talent of filmmakers, producers, and distributors. It aims to facilitate collaboration, co-production opportunities, and funding opportunities for projects in the Indian, Iranian, and Afghan regions.

The program's key segments include the 'Doc Co-Production Market' (CPM), the 'Doc Viewing Room' (VR), and the 'Doc Work-In-Progress Lab' (WIP). The 'CPM' is a platform exclusively designed to provide artistic and financial support from the global film fraternity. It provides an opportunity for filmmakers and potential producers to connect and collaborate on projects. The 'VR' is a platform for filmmakers to showcase their projects, and it includes a curated selection of films. The 'WIP' is a closed-door lab for films that are in the rough-cut stage of production. It provides mentorship, feedback, and an opportunity for filmmakers to interact with industry professionals.

The selected projects from the 'Doc Co-Production Market' will have the chance to present their films at an Open Pitch session and have one-on-one meetings with producers, distributors, and financiers. The 'Doc Film Bazaar' aims to provide a platform for filmmakers to showcase their projects and connect with potential collaborators, and it is hoped that the initiative will generate significant interest from both domestic and international levels.
