Ibanez signs Nagaland guitarist Imnainla Jamir as first Indian female artist

Imnainla Jamir, a guitarist from Nagaland, has been officially endorsed by the globally recognised guitar brand Ibanez, becoming the first female Ibanez artist from India.

The endorsement marks a development in Jamir’s career and reflects the increasing international visibility of musicians from India, including those from the Northeast.

The collaboration was facilitated by Hoshino Gakki (Ibanez Japan) and Mumbai-based Music Distribution Company, both of which identified Jamir’s work and supported her entry onto an international platform.

The Achievement Foundation for Music and Arts (TAFMA) was also acknowledged for its continued role in supporting and promoting artists from Nagaland.

Jamir’s endorsement is being viewed as a reference point for emerging musicians, particularly women, highlighting pathways for artists from the region to engage with global music platforms.
