Nand Kishore Yadav sworn in as 23rd Governor of Nagaland

Kohima: Nand Kishore Yadav on Friday took oath as the 23rd Governor of Nagaland at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, with Ashutosh Kumar administering the oath of office.

The oath of office was administered by Justice Ashutosh Kumar in the presence of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by members of the state Cabinet, legislators, senior government officials, representatives of various organisations and other invited dignitaries.

Following the ceremony, Yadav interacted with the Chief Minister and members of the state Cabinet.

Addressing the people of the state later, the Governor expressed gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for entrusting him with the constitutional responsibility.

Yadav said Nagaland occupies a special place in India’s diverse cultural fabric and praised the traditions, resilience and community values of the Naga people.

Highlighting India’s ongoing development, he noted that the country has made significant progress in economic growth, infrastructure, science and technology, and social empowerment in recent years.

The Governor also pointed to the growing focus on the Northeast in terms of connectivity, infrastructure and economic development, which he said is creating new opportunities while preserving the region’s unique identity.
Referring to developments within the state, Yadav said Nagaland has been progressing in sectors such as infrastructure, education, agriculture, tourism, digital connectivity and entrepreneurship, improving opportunities and quality of life for the people.

He particularly lauded the achievements of the youth of Nagaland in fields including education, sports, arts, entrepreneurship and public service.

At the same time, he emphasised the importance of creating meaningful opportunities for educated youth and encouraged exploration of sectors such as entrepreneurship, agriculture-based enterprises, tourism and the digital economy.

The Governor said the aspirations of the people for lasting peace, stability and development remain paramount, adding that peace and harmony form the foundation for sustainable progress.

As Governor, he said he will strive to uphold the Constitution of India and work in close cooperation with the state government and all sections of society to promote good governance, inclusive development and the welfare of the people.

Yadav concluded his address by calling for collective efforts to strengthen peace, encourage development and preserve the state’s cultural heritage.
