South West Garo Hills DC cautions govt employees on social media use

Shillong: The Office of the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills district has issued an order cautioning all government employees to exercise restraint while using personal and social media platforms in view of the prevailing situation in parts of the Garo Hills region.

According to the order issued by Deputy Commissioner Anendya Raajsshre, IAS, government employees have been directed not to post or forward messages, audio or video clips, pictures, or any other content that may be provocative or inflammatory in nature.

The order further states that employees should refrain from posting or commenting on law and order incidents occurring in other districts or states in a manner that could influence public sentiment, ideology, or trigger reactions among sections of society, which may aggravate the already sensitive situation.

The directive applies to all government offices in South West Garo Hills, and Heads of Offices have been instructed to ensure strict compliance among their staff.

The order also warned that any violation would attract legal action under relevant laws, in addition to disciplinary proceedings under the Meghalaya Civil Services (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 2019.
