IIT Guwahati startup engages 2,000 students across 23 IITs at Inter IIT Tech Meet

A student-founded startup incubated at IIT Guwahati took part in the Inter IIT Tech Meet 14.0, engaging nearly 2,000 students from all 23 Indian Institutes of Technology through a sponsor-led technical challenge.

Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd., incubated at IIT Guwahati’s BioNEST, co-sponsored the annual national-level technical meet and contributed to its technical programme by designing and releasing a no-preparation problem statement focused on algorithmic optimisation. The challenge was introduced as part of the sponsor-curated events at the meet and required participants to apply optimisation techniques to practical problem-solving scenarios.

Founded by Adari Karthikeya and Shivansh Gupta, third-year students at IIT Guwahati, the startup’s problem statement was taken up by teams across multiple IITs. Organisers said the challenge provided participants with exposure to competitive algorithmic thinking and real-world applications at a national platform.

The involvement of a student-led startup from IIT Guwahati in a flagship IIT competition is among the limited instances where such a venture has played a role in shaping the technical agenda of the Inter IIT Tech Meet, an event that has traditionally seen greater participation from established industry players.

Commenting on the broader entrepreneurial environment at the institute, Dr. Swapnil Sinha, CEO, IIT Guwahati-BioNEST, said, “North East India’s startup ecosystem is rapidly evolving from promise to performance, with founders building scalable, innovation-driven ventures rooted in the region’s unique strengths. At IIT Guwahati, this transformation is being propelled by IITG BioNEST, which is enabling researchers and entrepreneurs to translate ideas into market-ready enterprises through structured mentoring, infrastructure, and industry linkages—positioning the North East as an emerging hub for deep-tech and bio-innovation.”

The participation also contributed to increasing IIT Guwahati’s visibility at a national level in the context of student entrepreneurship and technology-driven initiatives.

Speaking about the support received from the institute and its incubation centre, Adari Karthikeya, founder and CEO of Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd., said, “We are grateful for the continuous support and guidance from IIT Guwahati and BioNEST. Their encouragement enabled us to contribute to a national platform like the Inter IIT Tech Meet and engage with some of the brightest student innovators across the IIT ecosystem. This opportunity has been both humbling and motivating for our team.”

The Inter IIT Tech Meet 14.0 was co-sponsored by several industry and research organisations, including Adobe, ISRO, Pathway, Observe.AI, Ebullient Securities, Qtrino Labs, StemVibe Foundation, Drona Aviation, Arista Networks, Eternal, LAT Aerospace, GDAI, and Jilo Health. The organisers said such collaborations aim to provide students with opportunities for industry interaction, mentorship, and applied learning.

Genuity IO Pvt. Ltd. is a student-founded startup incubated at BioNEST, IIT Guwahati. The company works on data systems based on semantic knowledge graphs for research and enterprise use cases, with a focus on modelling complex data relationships and generating synthetic datasets to address data scarcity, privacy limitations, and testing requirements.
