Assam: Video from BJP rally shows ‘Justice for Zubeen Garg’ poster removed

A video from Sorbhog in Assam has triggered discussion after it appeared to show a banner reading ‘Justice for Zubeen Garg’ being removed and destroyed during a public rally addressed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Visuals that have circulated on social media show a group of students and local residents displaying the banner at the venue, calling for justice in connection with the Zubeen Garg case. Shortly afterwards, some individuals present at the site were seen allegedly taking down the banner and tearing it, which led to a brief period of tension at the location.

The incident has prompted reactions from several quarters, with some raising concerns about freedom of expression during political events and whether peaceful displays of opinion should be permitted without interference.

There has been no detailed official statement on the matter so far, and further clarification is awaited.
