The construction of the gold shrine dome at Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati has been completed. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) had donated 19 kg for the famed pilgrimage destination.
Kabindra Sarma, the Doloi of the shakti peeth, said that the construction started in mid-September and there was a gap of 15 days during Durga Puja, after which the constriction resumed.
He informed that there is no function or inauguration to unveil the gold-dome above the main shrine.
Reliance had sent its engineers and artisans for completing the goldwork on the temple. Also, security provisions in the temple were beefed up.
According to reports, the head Doloi, Mohit Chandra Sharma said that the makeover of the temple with gold will make it more attractive for visitors as it has reopened only recently after months of closure following COVID-19 pandemic.
